Mmmmmmm... Scotch!

I'm suddenly craving scotch. I want a single malt... Scapa! Where are you!

(Turns out the closest place I can buy Scapa tonight is in Capitola, which is about 45 minutes away... [sigh]. I'll just have to order it online)

On a good note, I've found someone at work who actually knows Massive Attack and likes them too. So, we’ve been talking music, and he's letting me borrow two CDs. Wooo!

Christmas Gifts for those you don't know...

Ith is probably making the same point on her blog The Dragon's Muse.

In California (Northen California at least), we have a chain of chocolate stores, See's Candies. And, it seems, this is the gift that everyone gives.

Not just a box of chocolates, but the 'nuts and chews' box.

We've recieved at least 5 at the pharmacy I work at.

I love See's, but I'm getting really sick of nuts and chews... 10 pounds of the stuff will do that.

Even though, I have K very well trained. We get a new box, she pulls out my favorite (Scotchmallows. They're chocolate covered caramel and marshmellows... Yummy!) and hands them to me.

But, if I were to ever give See's chocolate for Christmas (It's usually a gift you give to a business or someone you don't know well but feel you need to give a gift), I will not be giving Nuts and Chews.

Actually, I currently give home made chex mix (Which I gave to the people at the Starbucks I'm a regular at. They seemed to like it.)

Two Towers!

YES!

I saw Lord of the Rings: Two Towers yesterday. Drove about an hour and a half away to see it with friends in a good theater.

Wonderful, wonderful movie.

I'm just going to paste in an email I wrote about what I thought about the movie, then bits and pieces I added later...

I have to warn you, if you haven't watched the movie and don't want to be spoiled, don't read any farther. The movie does have different bits than the books...

These are just random comments that pop into my brain as I think of them...

Overall: YEAH! WOOO!

Having Gimli being the main comic relief was a bit disconcerting. I mean, it was all great, and it all worked, but after having him being only minor comic relief in the first movie, going to major comic relief was just... off... to me.

Gollum was very well done. Love the stinker/slinker fight of his (As Ith has termed it). It showed his personality perfectly.

Pippin didn't once talk about being hungry and Merry never ate! [gasp] My world view is crashing around me!

When Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas first meet Gandalf, I love how his voice went from Saruman to a mixture of Saruman's and his, to totally his voice. Very nicely done.

Pippin had a plan! Scary! And, I knew what it was once he said 'Let's go to Isengard!'. Scarier!

When Haldir showed up on the screen, some teenage girls in the row in front of us started to quietly cheer.

Then, when he died ([sniff] I like Haldir!) one of the girls was almost in hysterics.

I didn't realize how much I like Haldir until he appeared at Helm's Deep.

And, while I did mutter 'There were no elves at Helm's Deep!', seeing the elven army march up was wonderful. And, their formation... The synchronized turn while at attention, with no order beforehand... wow!

I liked the add on scene between Arwen and Elrond. It was needed, since the part where we find out about what it means for an elf to be counted among men means was total exposition in the books, so they had to do a dialogue bit. Nicely done.

A friend made the comment 'These aren't the droids you're looking for.' during the scene where Gandalf convinced the guard to let him keep his staff. People heard and giggled...

And, that whole scene was good. Legolas pretending to help Gandalf walk, then the Three Runners (Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli) kick ass while Gandalf calmly walks across the room to Theoden's throne and ignores the chaos around him.

I never thought I'd see a movie, a three hour movie even, and want to turn right back around after leaving the theater to see it again. And, this was the second movie to do that! (The first being Fellowship of the Ring)

Am I remembering wrong, or were the Nazgul in the books actually themselves winged, and not on winged creatures? Because seeing them ride whatever they were was disconcerting to me.

Oh, the wargs... wicked cool! I always thought of them as mutant wolves, but these... wow.

Grima was wonderful. Really slimy and icky... Great actor.

I like the Eowyn and Aragorn bits. I think they were well done. She's obviously smitten by him, but not drooling. He thinks the Arwen has gone across the sea with her people and likes Eowyn as a person.

Love the bit where Aragorn comes in to warn Theoden of the army and Legolas gives him back Arwen's pendant. Eowyn was all set to come up and hug him in happiness at seeing him alive, then she sees the pendant. It stops her cold, because she knows he loves another and not her. But, she's still happy that he's alive.

Newest quote list from work...

In my world... Get OUT!

I study best with something in my mouth.

"I know that..."
"I should hope so!"
"It's either Shakespeare, or Moody Blues."

How come I don't get this little yellow sticker when I buy a case of beer? Look at this... 'Offer Counseling'.

Come here and let me run my fingers through your hair.

"Oooo! Money changing hands!"
"Actually, money changing bosoms..."

Do you think she'd be able to tell what bodily fluid I put in this?

It's giving birth to the paper and it's stuck! Aaa! Get the forceps!

I'll keep it at the price it was so she doesn't blow shit out of her diaper.

"Did you get lucky?"
"No..."
"Well, one day, a guy in a white hearse will... I mean horse!"

I don't know what's with her lately. She must be getting a lot of good sex.

I get upset when people treat him like a ho.

"Do you know the number of..."
"Yes..."

I'm out like a used condom.

You're not writing that down. You're not. You are! Aaaa!

If you're going to tell me things like that, can you warn me before so I can not laugh in your face?

I need part of my body pierced and have my pen attached to it.

That could happen! I could have all my sexual organs ripped out!

Did you use the phone or did you try using the Force? Because, the Force has been down for quite awhile.

"I'm psychic."
"No, no, honey. It's psychotic. I know it's hard to get it confused..."

25 and in a holding pattern

I'm a little old lady now...

A few days ago was my birthday.

I'm an old maid now. I'm a decrepid, wrinkled, greying, crippled, crone.

I'm at the stage in my life where I should be put into a home and left to fade away.

I turned 27 a week ago (Or, as I like to say, 25 +2).

Had you going for a moment there, didn't I? :-)

I think when I turn 30, I'm going to do what someone here at work is doing. She's going backwards... Instead of 34, she's now 26...

(Yeah, yeah, yeah... 27 is nothing. I'm still a baby, yadda, yadda, yadda. With the maturity that comes from my nine years of being a legal adult, I have one reply to that. Bite me)
