yay, me! (Not!)

I am officially one of the unemployed masses...

I got laid off from work today. I knew there would be lay offs, since we haven't been very busy in over a month, but I didn't think I'd be one of the lay offs.

So, after gathering all my stuff together, I came home to be greeted by Ith holding a rusty nail for me.

Tomorrow, I get to apply for unemployment, put on some ratty boxers and a greyish white t-shirt, grab a tall beer and a bag of chips, and spend the day watching monster truck rallies.

Yee haw!!!

On a good note, I got a week's vacation pay (even though I only had two days left, I think...) and if I can't find a job as a technician, there's always medical billing... Or, the good old stand by of front desk clerk!

There's something bizarre about having six shots of alcohol, watching Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, and reading about Japan's Geo-Political reality...

Just had to share.

You can't really comprehend how enormous a 1.75 liter of tequila is until you have it in your hands...

Wow.

T-Minus 25 Days...

In 25 days, I'm taking the Pharmacy Technician National Certification exam.

So, in 25 days, I'm taking a test to see if I meet the requirements to be held up to the national standard of pharmacy technicians.

And, since the last time I took the practice test, I got a 79%, I'm not too worried (And, that was taking the test cold! I hadn't even opened a book to study yet).

What's going to really get me is if they have questions dealing with IVs. I know they'll have a few, I'm just hoping it's not too many. I've never dealt with IVs, and even studying about them doesn't seem to be quite enough...

Oh well... We'll see what happens. (I better pass, damn it!)

Ice Cream Fiend!!

I am an ice cream fiend. I adore ice cream.

One of my ultimate favories is Cherry Garcia, by Ben and Jerry's. It's cherry ice cream, with chocolate chunks and cherry bits. (The other being Hagaan Dazs Strawberry)

So, today, at Safeway, I saw a Safeway brand called Chocolate Cherry Chunk.

As it was on sale, I bought some.

It's chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks and cherry bits. Sounds yummy... But, in reality, it isn't. They use maraschino cherries! Blarg! Icky!

This is the first time ever that I threw the ice cream I was eating away instead of finishing it.

Adventures in Compounding

I’m at work, making a cream, but it wouldn’t work!

To make a cream, we take the powder, wet it with an agent so it isn’t powdery or clumpy, then add two other liquids that when mixed together, form a cream.

So, I’m mixing and mixing. And the cream stays in liquid form.

I keep mixing, then add a bit of something that helps the gelling process if the cream is too watery.

It’s still in liquid form!

Then, it dawns on me.

I had used the wetting agent instead of one of the creaming agents.

Duh!

Well, that was twenty minutes down the drain.

And, to think, I had actually mixed that cream 175 times.

Rat bastard…
